Title:	Status of ACTAR: Latest results from simulations and amplification system tests.
Abstract:	The main objectives of the ACTAR JRA is to establish the optimal options to realize an active target detector for exotic nuclei studies and to define and perform R&D: best suited geometry, detection gas, cryogenics, readout chamber, associated electronics and data acquisition, ancillary detectors, tracking reconstruction algorithms...The physics cases addressed by this type of detector will be briefly described and the simulation results will be presented for different geometries. Finally the latest results of the test performed on new amplification devices will be described. The electronics development will be presented in the contribution of E. Pollacco.
