Title:	MAXEBIS emittance measurements and charge breeding experiments.
Abstract:	Abstract The electron beam ion source MAXEBIS was employed for studying the charge breeding process and emittance measurements. The original setup was used for the external injection of singly charged ions Ar+1, Ba+1 in order to get higher charge states. A number of experiments were performed to determine emittance of the EBIS and make ions' charge states analysis of Ar, Xe and Kr injected into the electron beam. A non-destructive method to obtain emittance and Courant ¿ Snydes' parameters of the beam using phosphor screen was applied. Simulation of the EBIS showed that it's big magnetic field is suitable for external injection and charge breeding of the ions. Investigations showed that the MAXEBIS was not the right source for charge breeding experiments due to it's complicate operation and the huge beam emittance. Results of the investigations will be presented.
