Title:	DEVELOPMENT OF A TARGET REMOTE HANDLING SYSTEM FOR SPES PROJECT AT LNL-INFN FACILITY
Abstract:	In this work a solution of the remote handling system for the SPES project (Study for the Production of Exotic Species) at INFN-LNL is proposed. SPES is an accelerator based facility for the production of neutron-rich radioactive ion beams obtained by a proton beam (40MeV, 0.2mA) directly impinging onto uranium carbide disks (fission rate of 1E13fission/s). In this work an overview of the radiation environment and of the thermal and thermo-mechanical loads occurring in the handling components of SPES project are reported and the results are used in order to develop a suitable remote handling system able to insert the fresh uranium targets and to remove the spent ones.
