Title:	Parity non-conservation effects in heavy few-electron ions
Abstract:	Atomic parity non-conservation (PNC) studies have attracted considerable attention over the last decades. These investigations are complementary to the high-energy collider experiments since they provide stringent tests of the Standard Model at low-momentum transfer. In this presentation, therefore, we will review the current status of the PNC research and will place special emphasis on the investigations involving helium-like heavy ions. These ions are considered as very promising candidates for the PNC studies not only due to the (relatively) simple electronic structure but also due to a near degeneracy of opposite–parity ionic levels causing their significant mixing. Some of recent theoretical proposals to measure such a mixing will be reviewed in the talk. In particular, we shall focus on the laser-induced transitions between the excited ionic states as well as on the radiative recombination of (initially) hydrogen-like species.
