Title:	Trap-assisted precision spectroscopy of highly charged ions
Abstract:	We present existing and upcoming experiments for trap-assisted precision spectroscopy of highly charged ions. As a common factor, Penning traps are used for extended confinement and highly precise spectroscopy of forbidden transitions. Particularly, use is made of specific properties of the confining fields themselves, allowing various novel spectroscopic techniques to be applied. Corresponding measurements of transition frequencies and lifetimes yield access to magnetic moments of bound electrons and nuclei as well as to fundamental constants and their possible variation with time. Relative accuracies reach from the ppm regime well into the ppt regime, thus providing stringent tests of quantum electrodynamics in extreme fields and models of diamagnetic shieding.
