Title:	Polarization correlations in the two-photon decay of helium-like heavy ions
Abstract:	We present a theoretical study on the two-photon decay of metastable states of helium-like heavy ions. In this study we place a special emphasis on the quantum correlations between the polarization states of emitted photons. These correlations are characterized in terms of the concurrence measure of entanglement. Detailed concurrence calculations are performed for the radiative stabilization of the (1s 2s)J=0 and (1s 2p)J=0 states of helium-like xenon and uranium ions. Based on the results of these calculations, we discuss the role of relativistic and many-body effects in the correlated two-photon emission from heavy atomic systems.
