statement on interest:	I would like to participate in the summer school which will takes place in Darmstadt because it accords very well with my university training and my professional perspectives. Actually, I will complete in september my master's degree in physics, specialized in nuclear fusion sciences at the University of Bordeaux 1 (France). This graduate degree co-leaded by Pr. Vladimir Tikhonchuk (CELIA, Bordeaux, France) offers interdisciplinary courses, such as high intensity laser-plasma interaction, physics of inertial confinement fusion, atomic physics or modeling and numerical methods for fusion. During these two years, I have been involved in two experiments which were included in the experimental roadmap of the European project HiPER. Their goal was to characterize the collective stopping power and the divergence of a suprathermal electron beam accelerated by an intense laser (~10^20 W.cm-2) in a warm (1-10eV) and dense (~6 g.cm-3) aluminium plasma. These experiments which were carried on the LULI 2000 laser facility (04/2010, LULI, Ecole Polytechnique, France) and on the TITAN laser facility (07/2011, LLNL, USA) gave me the opportunity to work in the fast ignition field and to get a general idea of it. Besides, the subject of my PhD which will begin in september is related to the fast electron transport in warm and dense plasmas in the fast ignition context. This work will be directed by Pr. Vladimir Tikhonchuk and co-directed by Dr. João Jorge Santos, and will takes place in CELIA (CEntre Laser Intenses et Applications, France). Its main goal will be to study the stopping power, the guiding and the divergence of electron beam jets in dense plasmas. Several experiments are already planned besides the one in Livermore such as laser shock sliding around a cone and its survival, source stability towards hydrodynamics perturbations (LULI 2000, France) and high spatial and spectral resolution X-ray spectroscopy of an electron jet (ELFIE, LULI-France). This summer school would be a great opportunity for my PhD. It would indeed give me an overview of the ultra-high intensity light science field, which would be a very pleasant way to begin my thesis. Moreover, it is quite important to have a global approach of the different issues of the field, and to meet foreign students and researchers. Finally, as I feel attracted by the german culture, I could try to find a postdoctoral position there after my PhD. This summer school would allow me to visit GSI and the PHELIX laser, and to meet german students and researchers.
