EUROTRAPS is a network of European research teams working in the field of precision spectroscopy of highly charged ions in ion traps. Highly charged heavy ions (HCI) represent a new rich field for atomic physics and a challenging test for atomic calculations concerning total binding energies as determined by mass measurements in traps, g-factors in one-electron systems, and lifetimes and hyperfine structures in few-electron systems.
