It has been agreed to move the Euroball Cluster and Clover Ge-detectors to GSI in 2003 for experimental campaigns with exotic beams. The SIS/FRS facility at GSI provides challenging new possibilities: by fragmentation or fission of relativistic heavy ions several hundred unstable rare isotopes can be generated with sufficient intensity for in-beam spectroscopy for the first time. Secondary beams can even be produced in high spin isomeric states. The beams can be used either at high energies (100-200 MeV/u), for Coulomb excitation and fragmentation reactions, or slowed down to Coulomb barrier energies, enabling fusion and direct reactions.
In this workshop we want to discuss ideas, propositions and perspectives for a nuclear structure program employing the Euroball detectors at the FRS. The emphasis is on future experiments, which exploit the unique opportunities, not on status reports of the past. The Gamma-array configurations and ancillary detectors to be built and the beams to be provided will be discussed. The details depend on the experiments being suggested by you, the users.
Besides a technical introduction we will have invited and selected talks. Sufficient time is foreseen for open, creative and stimulating discussions.

...replaced by the third circular.
This is the third announcement of the workshop on physics with Euroball detectors at GSI. The aim of the workshop is to discuss ideas, propositions and perspectives for a nuclear-structure program employing the accelerator facility and, in particular, the fragment separator FRS at GSI.
After an introduction to the main experimental aspects we will have a number of informal talks on a broad range of nuclear-structure topics. The outline of the workshop program has been adapted to adequately reflect the physics points of the many contributions we received over the last couple of weeks.
All participants are encouraged to bring along one or two transparencies to present their physics ideas and their wishes (especially if you are uncertain about the feasibility). The physics contributions in the program have a mean total time of 25 minutes each. All speakers are kindly requested to adopt the length of their talks to leave sufficient time for open, creative and stimulating discussions.

A new project deserves a new name. Therefore we are organizing a competition for the most proper name. Everybody is welcome to propose a name for the "experimental campaigns with Euroball detectors at GSI". In addition a name is also required for the gamma-tracking array project which will be proposed for the GSI future facility.
Any name suggested for the "Euroball" and/or the "tracking array" (only one suggestion per participant) received by the organizers by November 23, 9:15, takes part in the competition. The proposed names will be announced and put to the vote at the workshop dinner.
The "Euroball" winner will receive 9 bottles of wine (donated by the organizers)! The "tracking array" winner will receive 9 bottles of wine too (donated by the Euroball TMR coordination committee)!
The winning names are
GSI - Main lecture hall
To find out how to reach GSI please check the map of the area.
Below you will find a list of hotels close to GSI. Please, urgently make your hotel reservation directly with one of these hotels. Some hotels are already booked out! We were able to prolong the reservation of room contingents only until November 13.
We will provide a shuttle service on November 22 after the reception from GSI to the hotels, on November 23 and 24 between the hotels and GSI and after the workshop to Darmstadt main station and Frankfurt airport.
For participation to the workshop please fill in the questionaire below.
